2d curve Best Fit

I'm constructing 6 intersections using twelve 2d lines that are constructed from six 2d curves. I have been ticking the Best Fit option for each curve and creating an alignment for each. I then use the curve alignments in each of the 2d lines that I'm using for the intersections. My thought is, that this will be a way of constraining the lines in order to get the best result. Is there any benefit to doing this? I'm doing this off-line and haven't had an opportunity to try it out.

In my opinion, no. You are using recall feature points. The only time that I've ticked the Best-Fit of a Curve, in this particular case, would be to have it create an alignment, and then use that alignment to measure the feature in question.

If you were doing something like a small arc radius evaluation, this might be beneficial, but in this case with the lines, I don't see much benefit.

Would be interesting to see it tested.
