[To...]
I just re-read one of Lou's posts. I thought he was getting the error while creating the BA in the BA window. In one post, he said "it won't even let me do a manual alignment". In another post, he says he was measuring something. Another observation. If the model was oriented correctly (with Z up), his cylinder should have defaulted to a +Z space axis. His cylinder has a -Z space axis, which means the model was probably upside down. The top plane would also have a -Z space axis. But the screenshot shows everything oriented properly. Were the vectors modified in the BA? Regarding the -Z clearance plane, I don't believe this would be exposed until it went into CNC mode.

[Lo...]
Thanks for all the replies. Ok............Now................ I have gotten the part orientated to the machine I have set my base alignments and clearance planes. With no errors. When I go to run the part. I clear existing results, then do a manual alignment and when it is ready to run I get an error message. "Base alignment can not be computed." I am trying to program from CAD, this worked so easy during training now when do this on the machine at work I can't get it to work. I can program manually all day long but CAD seems so much easier.. [Ja...]
Maybe you can try these steps: 1) CAD > Cad file > cad model comparision to check if your basse alignment features match with cad model. If it matches then continue otherwise you need to try to match them (longest and surest way extract them again and delete old ones) 2) Use create new base alignment instead of changing current and set it up again. (make sure set base alignment to zero box is checked. ( check your clearance planes again to be sure) Now try using manual alignment
[To...]
Final Answer. Both planes did not have strategies, so during manual alignment, it could not be calculated.
