Wondering if any other software works to export data directly to a spreadsheet, or if Excel is the only option.

Not sure if this helps, but we send data via PCM to a spreadsheet, (not the Zeiss charcteristic.xlt template)
If that's an option your looking for, I can send you that line of code? We also export table files to Datalyzer.

QC Calc may be of interest to you. It gobbles up the table files output by the CMM and compiles them into a database.

As a database only, PiWeb Report is so much better.

I used QC-Calc for a couple of years, and it was much better than hand typing results in. The thing that got me was that the database could not handle dynamic measurement plans, so if you had a measurement plan with Mini-Plans, it created a database for each amount of characteristics. It was really frustrating to keep up with all of the data.

I use QC Calc as basically just a compiler. You can set it up to export CSV's of raw data that can then feed that into other systems. If you can do even a little programming then it cleans them up very nice. I then use those cleaned raw data files to feed into RStudio and can output a ton of graphs and analysis very quickly.


I've made that admission that P$ Web is actually better than QC Calc; However, only on an absolute scale. On a value per dollar scale QC Calc beats P$ Web by a mile.

Try and tell management that you need 35K upfront and then a little every year too, just to make your CMM's do what they already do. Just much prettier.

There are many options, I have something like this.
We save sometimes more attributes (around 300) than measurements, and we use them for filter, sorting, searching etc.

The graphics from Tableau and Qlik sense are very nice but I still prefer Excel
