Setup Information

Hello all,
I come from a PcDmis background and one of the most helpful things was having a popup tell the user how to setup the part on the machine. Does Calypso have a feature similar to this? When clicking run there are boxes labeled 'comment' or 'notes' that would reasonably be for this, but they appear non-editable.

If you just want to add a comment it is found under Resources - Measurement Plan Comment.

If you go to Plan - Measurement Run Info on Start - Select; you can select any file to open when the operator clicks on the User Information button inside of the run screen. Some people haves pictures, but it can be any type of file, so videos, powerpoints, etc can all be used.

I use Text element for mine, I put it at the top of the characteristics list and name it SET UP. I type in a step by step process including how the part goes on the fixture.

That'd be the day when I would ignite some fireworks. And if they also give us tolerance calculation by absolute values, you might even hear me sing hallelujah.

We go a step farther than what calypso has, and make a popup happen every single time the program runs with PCM, using systemCallWithWait.

like this, Irfan View is both a photo editor and viewer software ( but I expect you could use pretty much any photo viewer)

And the photo that opens is a combination of 2-3 pictures of the part fixtured, and some text based instruction overlaid.

In the presettings:
systemCallWithWait("C:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view64.exe C:\xxxxxxxx(Path to your photo that you want opened)xxxxx")

PiWeb only supports tolerance (or deviation) calculation by number scale, which is incompatible with the "absolute values" setting in Calypso. One of the reasons why I don't use PiWeb reporting.

I don’t like either the way that Piweb administrates the data… However I like the presentation of curve plots..
Just curious, what do you use to sort, save and analyze the data?

I don't do that 🤣
No, this task is organized differently in our company. I do first sample inspections only and for me it's enough to organize my data by a unique report number and my measured parts by the cavity number of the injection mold. We save the data to a network folder and then import it to a CAQ system. All the other tasks like data analysis are done by other people. So I wouldn't even need the old custom report most of the time, but I generate one anyway, so people have something to look at 😉

Number scale calculates the deviation along the axis, so the sign of the result is different, depending on the sign of nominals/actuals. Absolute value removes the sign first, treating all dimensions as if they were positive.
