[No...]
How is everyone's experience with the compatibility of new Calypso releases with outdated controller firmware versions? Have you ever seen malfunctions or errors when using a new release on an old CMM? I'm asking because the system infos on the web portal list a few incompatibilities or unknwn items for some of our CMMs, including an outdated firmware version. I installed the Machine Information Agent and uploaded a machine info file, but that didn't eliminate all the issues listed. For example it still says unknown sensor on the Contura and the MC 550 and didn't recognize that we already installed Win 10 on the O-Inspect. So has anyone ever experienced issues on an 'outdated' CMM (what kind?) or is Zeiss just being overcautious?
[Is...]
I have had cases where old controllers are not able to generate the same number of points during scanning than other machines, or some software functions are not available like self-center scanning on a circle (C98), in some cases the firmware update is necessary to give compatibility with new spare parts or components. [Mi...]
We have 20 year old Eclipse CMMs- which have been out of production for years, using the old "Blue" joystick box, one is running 2019 and the other is running 2018. Neither have any issues, but both required Device activator to be ran. Which is a free download from the Zeiss website
