[Ni...]
Hello, I am having an issue with calibration on Duramax. I have a probe with 2 four point stars, one pointing in X- and one in X+. Both sides have 4 1X10 probes and sine both sides have a probe pointing Z+ I had to create a second sphere to calibrate. It runs thought calibration with both spheres and gives a result of less than 0.0005 almost everytime for each tip, but for some reason the dimensions used by just that probe do not show good results on a known good part. It is very frustrating because for some reason I have to run through the calibration multiple times before it gives me a good measurement. Does anyone have an idea of what I should do? [No...]
Hi, I don't have an XXT sensor, but I remember I saw the attached image. The image shows the allowed probe lengths. Are your Z+ probes within these limits? Maybe share a picture of your setup?20200825_222817.jpg
[Ni...]
It is about 70mm by 58.

[No...]
Please sign in to view this quote. So you have 8 probes, which you describe with 2 dimensions? I am sorry: but I don't understand. - Which TL-plate are you using? - What is the axial distance from the XXT-bottom to the center of the Z+ probes? - What is the radial distance from the center shaft to the center of the Z+ probes? - Maybe it's relevant to describe the entire qualification process (including all settings). - A picture of your styli and you 2 calibration spheres could be helpful too. Did you try the cmmguys.com forum?
[Ke...]
You should also verify the weight of the stylus configuration vs the probe head specs. There could also be a balance issue, if you are using an XXT and are rotating it (?)

[Ke...]
I have never used a probe system like that configuration, and I haven't used an XXT in a few years... you may need lighter extensions. Weigh it (plate & all) and check vs the specs... if its a TL3, I believe that max weight is 15g.
[Ni...]
Thank you I will try that.
[Ni...]
It weighs 22g...... I will see what I can do about the weight. If that doesn't fix the issue do you have any other ideas that might help? I was thinking that problem was because I am using 2 calibration spheres to calibrate that probe and maybe a missed a step in setting it up for the 2 spheres. [Ün...]
You can reduce the weight by arranging the probe not as T but as L on one side.
[Ri...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Carbon fiber shafts will reduce the weight of the stylus systems. You can always build it in Stylus System Creator and it will tell you the weight, so that you have an idea before you order and build.

[Ni...]
I sung into the setting for my second sphere and noticed that the Update stylus d. Was set on NO. Could that be what is causing my issue?
[Ni...]
I got the weight under 15g and changed the update stylus d. to yes for my second sphere and it calibrate and showed a known part good......thank you all for your help.
[Er...]
I've found older carbon fiber extensions that were bad. Inconsistent calibrations and measurements.
