Actual points not perpendicular to Surface

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon everyone,
I have a Crazy Duramax that was running great 5 days ago, now the operator is getting bad parts. I look at Data and see the points are NOT perpendicular to the surface (Photos attached). So I did the following with a known Good Master part.
1. Check the Fixture, it was tight and square to the table.
2. Probes are clean and tight
3. Re qualified probes
4. load part, made sure it was seated properly
5. Manually pick up Base Alignment
Still got Skewed results......So I shut everything down for 15 mins than did steps 1 thru 5 again still got bad results.
Are all Duramax's this finicky??? I also got an Weight error for my Master probe to add to the mix.

We had the same issue 4 months ago. Turned out the spring was broken in the Vast XXT TL1 probe head. Had a tech come out removed the head, gently shook it and the noise you could hear was what he called the "death rattle". Very expensive replacement. Cannot remember if it was $3000.00 or $5000.00 for head exchange price.
Good Luck

I am having the same issue, not only with the vectors, but results from the Contura to the O-inspect machines. The Contura has the XT and the O-inspect does not. Machines are not correlating, I am using the same routine that was written for the Contura. I did not write the program, second day at this company and have been tasked with figuring it out. When I wrote a quick sanity check program using a 1,2,3 block. Got different results using the star probe compared to a down probe (.100mm), with similar looking vectors as far as pointing up or down in the Z axis. All of the down probe's vectors, as well as probe 2&4 (front and back) were parallel or perpendicular.
I've lightened the stylus by creating a T-Probe , instead of a star and am still not seeing a difference. I've powered it all down and re-Qualified everything, several times with no remedy. Can anyone shed some, additional, light on this? I'm stumped.
