Styli rack setup

Hello Everyone,
I received a new probe and socket and adapter plate. I have run through the Calypso book on setting up the location for the socket as well as creating a new probe. But when I go to store the probe in the socket. The CMM travels to the socket but is quite a ways above the socket. X,Y, axis seems to be on. But Z is about 4 inches above the socket. What did I miss?
Thank you,
Lou

P.S.- I have a 2 rack setup and I'm working on the bottom rack.
Thanks

This is going bad to worse. I just deleted all the probe locations on the rack. I see that they are still all in the management system. But now I can't figure out how to setup the probes to the specific rack. Unfortunately I was shown how to do this. Thanks for any assistance.

Your best bet is to start again. Delete your rack, add a new one.

With the MasterProbe on, you'll want to Define Stylus Length in the Automatic probe change screen. You're going to take a point on the edge of the probe rack with the adapter plate itself. Then, probe on the same surface of the rack with the MasterProbe ball. This will give you an overall length from plate to ball tangent. Make sure this value it displays makes sense for how long your MasterProbe actually is. If it looks off, re-do it. (ie. It says 28mm but it's 30mm).

Then you can go and do Define Holder location using the self centering cones.

After that, single select each of the holders and from the middle drop down, set it to Set Stylus System to Stylus System Holder and that will assign the correct stylus system to each location.

Once you've followed these steps, try storing and retrieving one of your stylus systems. TURN THE SPEED DOWN! You'll want to do this slowly for the first change and avoid any potential high speed collision. I repeat this process for each holder location.

Thank you so much Laura Jaschke that worked great.
My next issue is when I'm changing from a current probe to the new probe. After it drops the current probe and comes out of the socket the head goes straight up all way in the Z+ axis moves to the new probe comes down then picks up the new probe. The other issue is changing the name. In the Probe System Qualification menu the probe is labeled correctly, but in the Automatic stylus change menu its labeled New stylus system. Thanks for the help.
