Auto Run with no PCM

I have a series of parts with Identical geometry however they are all different lengths. I have assigned a program for each specific lenth. I set up a 3 jaw chuck on the CMM table and I would like the operators to be able to load the part, pick the program, and then hit start without doing a manual alignment. I'm looking to add a safety feature to avoid a big crash in the event that the operator picks the wrong program. Any creative ideas to accomplish this without having the PCM option?

You could do it in one program.
Just measure length of part from side where it differs and setup pre and post searching length.
After this you will know how long is a part and with some conditions you can select right characteristics.

If your base alignment is based on elements which vary in length, then choose something which is same and after knowing length select and setup new alignment for right length.
