Calypso Continuing Education Webinar Series

Hi Everyone,

In case you haven't seen this, we are planning a cool series of Webinars. I am leading them, and plan to share all my secrets over 10 weeks with the attendees...

https://www.zeiss.com/metrology/service ... 2E00460367

The link describes in detail what the deal is, but in general, one topic is covered every week for an hour, you are given an exercise to do (along with valuable notes, cad models, excel sheets, PiWeb templates, and who knows what else), and then we meet again later in the week to review the exercise and ask questions. There will be 3 separate hour-long "instruction" webinars and 3 separate hour-long "review and Q&A" sessions each week.

Each week's lesson will review/refresh techniques from Basic and Advanced Calypso training and will include something previously not taught in any class. My hope is you will learn at least one new thing every week. The topics will not be directly related to any option of Calypso and are general topics everyone can use.

If you have extra training credits kicking around this is a great way to use one, or would like to learn Calypso skills from a ZEISS engineer when travel may not be possible for you, this is a great option.

I hope to see you there.

If you have any questions about this, please ask below!

Thanks, Mike! I have some good stuff planned.

I appreciate it, and I look forward to hanging out with you a few hours the next 10 weeks!

Bring your questions - we can work through some questions that are not necessarily related to the topic of the day as time permits.

Hi Shabu pv,

I understand that there is a cost to the service. Below are some things to think about:

Considering it is 20 hours of instruction with a ZEISS engineer, that works out to less than $100 / hr, less than our typical WebEx time, which is $165/hour.

Also, you will receive notes from the sessions. On average, you will receive more than 5 pages of notes per session, and one activity (not to mention CAD models, excel sheets, and other things). You will end up with a "Manual" of 50+ pages at the end of the ten weeks.

Finally (and unfortunately), many people cannot travel now to training classes and have extra credits that cannot be used. This is a good use of those credits... and there is no additional travel costs like flights/hotels/meals associated with traditional classroom training.

This may not be for everyone, but I will work hard to justify the investment companies make in it!

If you've been around the Calypso world for some time now, training time with Ryan Stauffer is as good as it gets. Worth all of the rupees. 🙂

Hi Laura,

Sorry about that - Thanks for letting us know! Possibly the reply with Webinar info got filtered. I will send information.

THE GOOD NEWS - you won't miss anything! We will re-do Week 1 after Week 10, as there are several people signing up now! 😃

Thank you for your understanding!

I'm all signed up now! I'm not sure why I didn't get the e-mail originally but looks like I'm good to go. I have been using Calypso for almost 8 years now and I know there's still going to be tons to take away from this. Thanks for following up!

Just having Ryan in the room, even virtually, you can't help but benefit from his vast years of knowledge.

Thanks, Tom! Hope you are doing well!

I like your jersey... except the blue needs to be a little lighter ... and there needs to be a little silver and black on there .... and a Panther should be be on there as well. 🤣

I *almost* got signed up for this!
...But I had to tell my manager that there was a price tag that she did not see (because it wasn't included, on the email) 🤣
Since my company had to furlough employees, and force others to take temporary pay cuts, it obviously isn't in our budget.

But... if anyone is interested, Hexagon is giving away free offline programming seats (probably a temp license), and training. So there's that 😃

Plus... the Continuing Education Online Series series is going great!

This week we are covering CAD Evaluations. Cool stuff.

Next week is Formulas and will include a neat hack for "Free PCM" using formulas should you have an easy family of parts and you don't have the PCM option.

If you would like to sign up for the continuing education series, it's not too late... We will be re-hosting Weeks 1, 2, 3, and possibly 4 going into June after we wrap up the first 10 at the end of May.

Feel free to contact me at ryan.stauffer@zeiss.com if you you have any questions about the Continuing Education series.

Signup is here: https://www.zeiss.com/metrology/service ... 2E00460367

I've really been enjoying the Free eLearnings on the portal. I've learned a lot about squares that are composed of cubes.

On the plus side, ever since Hexagon started offering free classes, I've got more certs from Hexagon that I know what to do with.

The Series is still continuing, and any new sign-ups will still be able to attend all 10 weeks of Sessions - we will be rolling the 10 topics consecutively, one per week, through the end of June, at least. It's a great way for experienced users (not for people needing to get started with Calypso Basic Training) to learn stuff while we can't travel. The ideal participant has been through Calypso Basic, has written a few / a lot of programs, and want to know more about Calypso... stuff that is not covered necessarily in any class.

If you have an old training credit kicking around you want to use... 😉

Hey guys!

Last chance on this! Sign up now to be able to catch all 10 lessons live (20 hours of instruction) .... and get over 100 pages of notes on all kinds of cool topics.

Registration closes 4/28.

The CALYPSO Continuing Education Series runs through the end of June.

Below is a schedule of each week's subject:

4/27: Using the Measuring Strategies Cookbook
5/4: The Autorun Operator Interface
5/11: Distances: Which One to Use, When, and Why
5/18: Subsequent Evaluations and Export to Excel Spreadsheet with Macros
5/25: Testing and Improving Measurement Repeatability with Loops
6/1: Setup of Offline Programming and CAD Programming Tricks
6/8: Alternative Feature Creation Methods from CAD Models
6/15: CAD Evaluations and Graphic Incorporation in PiWeb Reports
6/22: Formulas and Families of Parts
6/29: Creating Header Variables and Modifying the PiWeb Report Header

AGAIN, all of these topics are designed for ALL Calypso users - even experienced Calypso programmers will learn things each week. ALSO, every topic DOES NOT require any special CALYPSO options, so EVERYONE can immediately apply material each week to their own programs.

Webinars each week will follow the below schedule (all times EASTERN):

INSTRUCTION SESSION WEBINAR:
TUESDAY 8:00 am-9:00 am
TUESDAY 4:00 pm-5:00 pm
WEDNESDAY 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

ACTIVITY REVIEW AND Q&A WEBINAR:
THURSDAY 8:00 am-9:00 am
THURSDAY 4:00 pm-5:00 pm
FRIDAY 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

You can attend any of the sessions you wish. It's recommended you attend one Instruction session and on Review session. If you want to attend all six hours any week, that's fine too! We want this program to be fun and flexible to meet your schedule.

Register here:

https://www.zeiss.com/metrology/service ... 2E00460367

Cost is one training credit (or equivalent $1950)

Ryan,
I just saw this today while looking at formula information. Is there any chance you made these to where they could be shared later? Especially the formula one.
