[Am...]
Does anyone know of a good way to replace a solid model in a program with a new one? I have a part coming up that is identical to a part that I already have programmed except it has one extra feature that is cut out from the center which is about a quarter of the part. Its a lengthy program and id like to just use my other program and only have to add the dimensions and adjust my program around this area missing instead of starting over. Is there anyway I can just swap the solid model out? I think I remember seeing a post about this on here before but I could not find it.
[Ma...]
I have never tried it, but if you will follow base alignment, then you can move model to right position. Only problem can be with surfaces - elements will not be affected.
[Cl...]
There might be a much faster, easier way, that someone else has, but what I do is; go to CAD > View > Delete. I will also delete both the .sab files in the program folder. I open up a new measurement plan, import the new model, save it (that will generate new .sab files). Use cad model transformation to put the model in the right orientation then import it. You may have to move it around a little bit once it's in the program. [Ma...]
I do a save as then bring in the new model. I then rotate the new model so that it is in the same orientation as the old model. In the event that the models are overlapping I move the new one so that they are separate. I then pick points on the new model in X, Y, and Z in order to see the distances that I need to move the new model in relation to the BA on the old model. Go to CAD/Hierarchy and record the number of the old model. Highlight the new model and go the positioning tab. In the translation section move the new model in X, Y, and Z the distances from the BA on the old model. Go back to hierarchy and delete the old model. I have found in some cases that I have to set my BA to zero and then heal the model. This may not be the easiest way but it seems to work for me. I too am interested if there is a faster/easier method.
[Ch...]
I do this quite often. CAD > View > Delete // will get rid of your old model. CAD > CAD File > Load // will bring in you your new model CAD > Modification > CAD Model Transformation // Here you orient your model to the same orientation as the last one. CAD > CAD File > CAD Model Comparison // This will merge your existing features onto the cad model. I tend to choose a higher tolerance for this.
