[St...]
Is there a way that you can change the orientation of a model part way thru a program. I do a few "2 sided" programs. It would be nice I I could flip the model so that it represents what I am actually doing Thanks Steve
[Ch...]
I have a lot of '2 part' programs and I know exactly what you are talking about with the model. I was told there was a way but I have never tried it. Basically it involves using PCM to delete the model and import another one in the new orientation. [Me...]
you can import two cad models and turn each on and off in the modify cad entities under the CAD drop down. the tricky part is getting them orientated how you want to. you can import the CAD and re-orientate it how it is supposed to be in first orientation, then save the CAD model. then re-orientate the model again how the flip is. then import the previous orientation you saved. then just turn off the orientation you are not working on. [St...]
We don't have PCM so I can't use that option. I'm thinking about trying the Merged Programs option and see how that works. I'm thinking that writing the separate programs and then combining them might be easier and less confusing
[To...]
Something I've done was to program side 1 with the original model. Then, gone into CAD - Modify CAD Entities. Select the Positioning tab. Select the model, enter a value in X that will model a copy of the model over a bit, and click Copy. Next, I select the copy, choose the Y Space axis in the Rotation section, tick the Center check box, enter 180 deg and click Apply. I only do this for clarity. In reality, I might be flipping the part right over in the same spot. Next create a secondary alignment on the 2nd model. Select CAD - Pre-assignment of new features and select the new secondary alignment. Leave that window open whilst creating all of the features on side 2. When you're done extracting all of your features you an close the Pre-assignment window. . In the features settings editor, I set the measurement of the 3 features in the secondary alignment from CNC to manual. If I have positive location of the part on each side, you can change it back to CNC after the first run. If not, you might need to leave it on manual. [Me...]
Tom, I'm trying to follow the instructions you left to work with two CAD molds. Do you think you can help us with something more graphic? I'd appreciate your help

[Zo...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I have been trying to set up a copy of the model much the same way described above, but when I try to probe the bottom surface there, and use X- for approach, the probe is shooting off to the left, past the first part, seemingly in relations to the original clearance plane, the cube. Is there a way to set up a secondary clearance "cube" for the second part, so wehen I approach from anywhere other than Z+, it will consider that and not travel far, across the other set up? [Ma...]
I should warn you about using two models. For normal - element - measuring it's ok - but you can not use this with freeform. It will be complaining about surfaces. Even selecting surfaces did not help. I use 2sided on second fixture - 2 models, then rework CAD model ( it will merge models ). Then it works
