[Li...]
Since last week we have found two pins on the surface and in the probe rack. The operators say they think they are falling from the head of Duramax. The pins are about .060" in diameter and .200" long. Has anyone ever seen or heard of anything like this? The machine is about 10yrs old from what I am told. The head seems to be operating ok. I did get some high deviation when measuring two gage blocks. In X a 4" gage block measured 4.0003 and in Y a 3" gage block measured 3.0003. Our Contura gave me 4.00003 and 3.00007Pin from Duramax head.jpg
[To...]
Possibly out of one of the sockets on the rack? I found something similar, right when one socket cover quit springing back (I think the pin held one end of the spring)
[Mi...]
Please sign in to view this quote. This is right. Assuming youre using a Zeiss probe rack that is the pin that holds the springs for the cover, there is 2 per cover. If one pin falls out the door will still work so you may not notice at first which one it is until you pull them each back. I take the rack apart and put a dab of epoxy on the pins so they can't fall out over time.
