Material for Measuring fixture

Recommended Posts

Hello together,

i need to create a measuring fixture for a aluminium cast.

My question is if its better to use the same material because of the change of the length due to temperature change,
or if using a thermal inert material would be better.

Thank you for helping.

Hello,
my name is Peter.
I´m project manager.

I would prefer the same material because of:
- most of the modular measuring fixtures we designed were realized in aluminium.
- manufacturing, handling and price are better than metal.

If you have further questions, please let me know.

All our fixtures are either Alca 5 EN 5083 (AlMg4,5Mn) or tool steel. Don't know exact alloy but its like tungsten and vanadium or something like that. We never had any problems, except when using 3d printed plastic crap. We have one printer that use carbon fiber mixed in or something like that, (don't know any thing about it), but it makes "ok" fixtures.
