What would be your choice of Systems and Sensors for a QC lab for injection molded parts.
Part size envelope would be 30"X30" X 24"
SPC Capability
Auto Run Programing?
Suggestions and thoughts ?

Thanks

It just depends on your budget.

You could get a Contura big enough to handle that size of a part.

I'm partial to the robustness of the Active scanning heads, so I'd say either the VAST XT Gold or the VAST XTR Gold.

If you do have a lot of tiny features, or complex angles then the RDS with an XXT will be your go to.

I would strongly advise to have at least 10" space on either side of your parts, to allow room for the XXT - if you would go for the RDS/XXT-option. That would make 50" x 50" x 34". And that is a big machine! And a big price tag. In Y some extra 10 or 20" for the change rack makes 60" x 50" x 34". Sounds more like an Accura to me.

With the XXT in horizontal position, it's about 8" from the centre of the Z axis to the end of the XXT. It eats up a lot of room.

As for myself, I am very happy with the XT scanning head. It can scan at least 5 times faster than an XXT - I was told.

Be mindful of inspection requirements that may be required that are located *inside* the molded components. If you need to use a stylus that is even remotely close to 200mm (about 8in), I would opt for a Vast XT option.
IF you go with the XXT, be aware that the extra 10" of clearance that was previously recommended is absolutely needed. The XXT "pop" off the head very easily, if it collides with the part during rotation. The internal components are very fragile and break easily; I would suggest purchasing a back-up, so that you are not dead in the water, if/when it needs to be replaced.
