Tru Position LMC should Diameter be Min Inscribed?

Hi,

Just looking for confirmation on this.
If i have a call out of : I 0.1(L) I D I E I F I , Should my Diameter be evaluated as Min Inscribed? or does that Diameter Eval not matter? Currently Having a disconnect with a supplier who has little CMM Experience. I have my Dia at Min Inscribed and they have it at LSQ. So they are getting a Smaller Dia with a bigger bonus where i am getting Bigger Dia with smaller Bonus. I have gone thru what information I have and the cook book even videos and guide online, but nothing clarifies this.

However, When I create the TP characteristic and turn on LMC, hit ok. Calypso prompt to have the current diameter either adapt to the TP call out at LMC or create a new one. I chose adapt and it changed to MIN Inscribed. It has been like that for a while.

Few... Thats a load off my shoulders. I want to make sure I had everything right before submitting the information that they are incorrectly calculating their Bonus due to Diameter size being also incorrectly evaluated.

First of all, I haven't seen a Minimum Inscribed option. It's either Maximum Inscribed or Minimum Circumscribed. Second, I didn't read anywhere in this whether the diameter was a hole or a boss although the results you are getting leads me to believe it's a boss. That makes a difference. Lastly, it depends on whether or not you have to evaluate tolerances per ISO or ASME. If you select Outer Tangential this will automatically do it correctly per ASME without having to worry about Max Inscribed or Min Circumscribed. If it's an ISO print then LSQ is what you should be doing unless the print specifies otherwise.

Regarding a bore:

1.) Maximum Inscribed Cylinder when it comes to MMC. (UAME)

2.) Minimum Inscribed Cylinder when it comes to LMC. (UAME)

Minimum here as a term of contrary.

No, there is no such thing as a Minimum Inscribed Cylinder. That would make no sense at all, but you can see this wrong interpretation of this abbreviation from time to time.

What Andreas means (I think) is that for a UAME (Unrelated Actual Mating Envelope) a Maximum Inscribed Cylinder is used, but for a UAMME (Unrelated Actual Minimum Material Envelope) you’ll need a Minimum Circumscribed Cylinder). The UAMME is what would be used in an LMC calculation.

Yes, you're two options are Max Inscribed for Min Circumscribed. On an ID if you are looking at the MMC you will look at the Max Inscribed or the OTE. On an ID if you are looking at the LMC you will look at the Min Circumscribed or the ITE.
