While using start alignment calypso asks me to check base alignment also, my start alignment and base alignment features are different and all my start alignment features are under base element not in any other secondary alignment.

This happened to me this morning, wrote a program yesterday and forgot to check the manual alignment box. Easy to overlook.

If base alignment is not needed ( just start align. ) then what's purpose of using start align. instead of base?

I use start align. just in case, that user can not acceptably manually scan alignment, or it is more complex.
If you want to get chars. and features then just use new alignment from extras.

I understand usage of start align. But i don't get why bother with start align instead of creating copy of program with base align. composed of features from start align. ie. why searching a way how to not scan a base align. 😉

Over time, some programs lose the SA/BA offset, or it gets altered by a few thou. So, if I need to re-establish the
Base Alignment, I use a separate (simple) Start Alignment. Here's a rather detailed base alignment with loads of points and features. If I don't use a simple start alignment here, then I will be prompted with the base alignment features which have up to hundreds of points (I know only few are necessary), but non the less, it's too much hassle. Furthermore, if an operator needs to do the same thing, then they are presented with a simple solution, the start alignment.

Either I dont understand what you are trying to say. Or you dont understand the purpouse of a start alignment.

A start alignment is prefferably somethinng simple like a single point, just to locate the part so that the base alignment can be made complexand run automatic in cnc mode. We have parts where the base alignment is a best fit of points. Good luck running that base alignment manually.

Or fuel pipes, total nightmare without a start alignment.

Sorry, but i got Shabu question as how measure only start align. and skip base align. measuring.
For sure i use start align only when needed ( as best fit, or RPS ). Believe me, I measure forged pieces - they are really not as on drawings 🤣
