accuracy of results in micro scale

Hello dear friend

I want to know how can I increase the accuracy of the out put for micro tensile test. is the large facet size give out the accurate results for displacement in micro tensile test? dimension of the specimen is 0.3*0.6mm in cross section and 3mm in gauge length.

Hi Masoud,

to increase your measuring accuracy you need a good set up for the acquisition and afterwards you have a few parameters you can adjust within the inspection. 

Set up:

• a fitting measuring volume
• a stochastic pattern that fits to your MV and camera resolution
• no disruptive factors (air convection, bad illumination, reflections, ...)

Parameters: 

• Reduce facet size (standard: 19; very good set up:  >9)
• Reduce point distance (standard: 16 ; very good set up: >9) 

These are the main parameter you have to consider to increase your measurement accuracy. But remember, these mentioned parameters are general factors which effects the accuracy. It depends on many different elements such as your hardware. You have to check it for each measurement.
