I purchased a computer from Zeiss to replace the windows 7 computer on a Duramaxx. Not a whole lot of instruction on swapping them out. Any suggestions on what needs to be done other than copying the inspection programs.

Befe you take your old computer down, go to
Extras, Settings, Miscellaneous, then under the maintenance tab Save a recovery file onto a thumb drive or in a network location.

When you get your new calypso loaded, click on 'restore' and many of your settings like probe files and probe rack and all your updated .GRA files will all be updated automatically. I think it also saves the stuff under all your settings like if your cmm is defaulted to inch or MM, file paths........
The only thing it doesn't save is programs, so if you're not working from a network location be sure to save your inspection folder somewhere too.

Then........ even though you bought your computer from Zeiss, have your IT guy pour as much RAM into it as he can. Computers from Zeiss are ok, but not terribly fast. Maybe steal the sticks off your old computer if they are compatible and stuff them into your new computer. i have 32 gig in my offline seat and 18 gig on my main computer, the main computer sometimes hangs up when processing large amounts of profiles at the end of a run.

After trying to swap the computer and restoring from a backup I was not able to connect to the CMM only in Simulation mode. Must be missing something.

This might help you.

I've got one Zeiss supplied Z4 and then my other two CMM's are Z4's that I ordered myself. The two that I specced out myself are hands down way faster than the Zeiss supplied ones.

I run with 120GB of ram on each machine.
