[Ky...]
Customer is calling the the length of the flat on a slot .125 +/-.005 but also calling position .014 MMC ABC. How would you get the length of the flat so I can use MMC. it is late in the day and my brain hurts Thanks KyleFlat on slot with MMC.png

[Ky...]
You could look at it that way. And you are probably right. I did it that way also but I still could not figure out how to get a position with MMC on 2 radi
[Ky...]
Man I created a slot . Nope. I created 2 cylinders. Nope. I created 2 circles. Nope. I know its right there I'm just not seeing it.
[Ri...]
Please sign in to view this quote. You could do it a few different ways. It will all require theoretical features, and some formulas. Here's a quick and dirty way of doing it.
[Ky...]
Yup right in front of me. That is the same way we did it on the shaft you looked at. Thanks Richard! I need to call it a day Have a great weekend Kyle

[Br...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Ugh I hate seeing this done this way. The drawing is actually incorrect. That is why you are having a hard time figuring out how to handle it. Position is only for features of size. Because the feature that it is applied to is just some distance between center points, no size can be determined per Y14.5 (i.e. Rule #1). If you can speak with the engineer about it I would. There's no way to actually determine the tolerance zone based on the MMC modifier because that would depend on whether it is an internal feature or external feature of size. Because it is neither, I don't know how you can even utilize MMC.

Why CAD software packages haven't utilized this is beyond me. At the end of the day, you can bring it up to the design engineer, but be prepared to hear, "can you just do it any ways". I know, but then you run into the problem of two different people interpreting the drawing two different ways and creates all sorts of unnecessary conflict between companies. Its better to figure it out up front if possible in my opinion.
[Ri...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I agree 100%. When I worked for a manufacturing facility, I always enjoyed being involved in the quoting process, so that I could review drawings, and iron out any technical questions prior to making the first part. It just made things smoother along the way. It just became a headache at times because one T1 supplier would want things evaluated this way, and another T1 supplier would want things evaluated a different way. I could show you some drawings that are either ISO or even ASME that will make your head hurt. I know that I've had a few drinks because of them. Lol.
