[Ow...]
Anybody in automotive use something different to measure rings like these? The 15° and 7"18' angle and the 2.605 @ 1.5mm from edge is critical, as well as the 2.842. We have an older Mitutoyo PH 3500 optical comparator in a different division that I know little to nothing about. They say they can't measure the rings accurately because it doesn't have side view? [Ri...]
I would think that an optical comparator would be able to easily do this. A standard one has at least a backlight, so you should be able to see the outside shape profile as shown below. A vision system would be my go to, as long as it can be seen. [Cl...]
For what it's worth, we have an OGP smart scope Flash 200. I love this thing. The optics are some of the best. QVI in the manufacturer. I recommend anything they make!
[Ow...]
I should've mentioned that it needs to be a non-destructive measurement and a high volume one at that. With the optical comparator , you have to cut the ring to be able to see the edges. Also, the comparator mentioned is supposed to have sub 0.002 micron accuracy but, they say they're lucky to get .025. Like I said, I haven't used it. [Ke...]
This is my favorite offering from Keyence. It's on my "wish list"; if you want to check it out for specific parts, they will bring it to your location, for a demo. https://www.keyence.com/ss/products/mea ... vl-500_3d/
[Cl...]
We have a dozen Keyence's. They are worth their weight in gold. Easy to program, great optics, easy to use. Customer service is very good.
[Ri...]
A lot of blasphemy in here. I cannot believe my eyes. 😱 😱
[Da...]
Not sure of this ,but, I would think they could make one with a clearance gap to load the ring. https://youtu.be/4rg5rBkVmjk My first thought would have been a contracer , with some fixtures to hold the part in place . Probably not fast enough though

[Da...]
Please sign in to view this quote. We use hand held blue lights, works quite nicely. I don't know the cost though. They allow you to scan the entire part and give results quickly.
