[Ja...]
I am trying to run a helical path inside a small half sphere. In the strategy of the sphere, I can select "Helix path". The automatic path shown goes up from Z-0, instead of down into the sphere. Target height is .0815. I can change that to -.0815 and the path switches down into the sphere. But I think it is still looking for the outside of a sphere and my probe crashes outside the edge of the sphere on my Z-0 plane. I'm sure it's just a matter of changing something to make the probe look for the inside of a sphere, but I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. [Br...]
When you first open the feature window of the sphere, there should be an image in the top left corner of the window that looks like a probe touching a surface of either an ID or a cylinder or an OD of the cylinder. Try clicking this so that it is measuring the inside. I've noticed that this sometimes reverses when measuring a sphere.Capture.PNG
[Ja...]
Brendan, That does change the little picture, so it looks like it will scan inside, but the probe still tries to start outside the sphere.
[Br...]
The only other things that I can think of that would cause that would be your clearance plane, your retract/clearance distance, or your approach parameters of the probe (whether the probe is trying to probe normal to the face, or the search distance before nominal position). All I can suggest is double check all of those.
