Trouble with the probe rack

I've got a Contura with an RDS and a Vast xxt. I'm having trouble getting the adapter plates to drop into their sockets cleanly-they get caught up between the cover springing back into place, and get wedged in there-half out of the socket, and sometime falling out. It used to work, but 2 days ago they started hanging up.

It seems like an alignment issue between the head and the rack? I've been aligning the rack with the machine axis (probing each end of the rack, with no alignment specified, and aligning as closely as I can-to under .001" end to end). But maybe the rack needs squared to the head, more than squared to the machine?

Probes pick up fine, but dropping off is the problem. Some sockets seems worse than others. Yes, I'm re-defining the holder locations. I put a little silicon dry film lubricant on the moving parts of the probe sockets (after the trouble started-didn't seem to help the problem, but the doors did move a little more free).

Any pointers?

Manually check if your sockets / rack are parallel to the table using a just a general bubble level, or use the machine. Also check your approach parameters for the sockets that no special movements have been added. If all is well I would redefine your stylus length. This can be done from the automatic stylus change window in the top right corner with the Masterprobe.
