Automatic Stylus Change Not Functioning Properly

As soon as I try to store my styli in the holder, the CMM moves to the correct holder and tries to slide it in, but it just holds onto the stylus and tries to do whatever it's supposed to do next like the stylus isn't still connected to the head. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

i'm not sure what exactly is happening to your machine head but you could try a few things,

1) clean the plate contacts and re-position your rack like Richard S. said. (Reposition after you home your machine)

2) Try removing the head and re-seating it. (make sure our power is off and no probes are locked in. torque the side bolt to 2nM when re-seating.)

You may need to call Zeiss if you need an upgrade for your controller.

Other Experts on here may have a better understanding of this but that's what I would start with.
Hope this helps!

We have a Contura with a Vast XXT sensor.

We just upgraded to 2019 and I was trying to get all of my styli back. I saved the .pcf files for all of my styli from 2018 and then imported them into 2019 (this worked great), but my auto stylus change rack was completely erased. I didn't set this up initially, so I'm kind of learning as I go as far as a fix for this.

There should have been no need to do what you did.

As long as you don't uninstall the previous version first, the new version will import all of your setting/configurations from the previous version.

If you didn't do this, you will have to manually set everything back up, including your Reference Sphere definition, and what not.

There is also a Backup and Restore function of Calypso that will backup your entire machine tab. This can be found in Extras - Settings - Miscellaneous - Maintenance.

Thanks again Chad, I actually overlooked something in this yesterday. I'm going to have our IT give something a try and I'll report back here when that's done.

I'm all set. I was copying/pasting the incorrect "config" folder. As of right now, everything is working great!

Thanks for the help guys 🙂
