history and data analysis

Hi all,
I have Calypso 2015, and am wondering how other people go about part history and data analysis.
For example, if I want to know what True Position A was on all previous cycles so that I can see trends, what would be the best way to do this?

They have a lot of SPC software available but if you don't have any of that and the bosses want to save money, you can do a lot with excel. We save all our inspections with the excel report. Then we merge the results of each part into our own excel file so we can compare parts and see trends. We have cpk formulas and SPC charts that we created in this excel file. You have a lot of options.

We are soon to be implementing a software called "Datalyzer"
which can use the table files generated from your program.

Anyone else out there currently using Datalyzer? Just curious
.about your opinion of it.

I always recommend QC Calc to everyone. It may not be the most powerful but it is cheap, about $1500 and works as a great data collector.

I use this to compile all my data into excel then parse the data from those reports and send that data to wherever it needs to go.

I would say that once was the case, but with PiWeb Reporting Plus being a standard now, I don't see any benefits of using QC-Calc. In fact, PiWeb RP can easily handle header variables, and changes to the # of characteristics that QC-Calc just simply cannot handle.

I once used QC-Calc in my previous life, and I loved it at the time because previously I had to hand type all data, and it was tedious and time-consuming. After switching to PiWeb Enterprise, I never looked back.

If PiWeb and QC Calc cost the same then I would totally agree; However, PiWeb turns in to P$$$$$$$Web real fast when you start quoting the SBS or enterprise package.

Seriously, $1500 for a QC Calc license and my quote for PiWeb SBS was $25,000. It's not easy convincing management that being able to handle the header variables is totally worth the extra $23,500.

I was talking about Reporting Plus which comes with Calypso as a standard. It would be comparable to what QC-Calc is doing.

SBS/Enterprise is something completely different. QC-Calc does have a server based solution, but it is a joke compared to PiWeb.

yeah but to get reporting plus on my old CMM's I they are making me pay(my CMM's before 2018 all have just PiWeb Basic which is a turd). Then if you want them all to work together you have to pay to upgrade again. If I had one CMM then I'd choose PiWeb.

I'm admitting that PiWeb is better overall, but when it comes to value per dollar then you can't beat QC Calc.

We use WinSPC for data collection, but we also send an appended TXT file out to a spot on the network drive for every part number we have, that way at a glance we can open the file and search for workorder and have a quick look at what the numbers for years back.
Its takes PCM, and its a difficult system to get going, but now its just a thing we do on all our new programs.
Its also at no cost, as long as you have PCM.

I feel the same way, we have eight CMM's and only one has PiWeb Reporting Plus. The quoted cost to just get them all to PiWeb reporting plus is about $11K and I am pretty sure that is with discounts. Trying to explain to management why reporting is important when some guy on the floor wants new machine's is basically a non-starter.

I just can't understand Zeiss making such a good system and then pricing it so any company that has supported them for years is penalized for still using older machines.

Over and over it seems like Zeiss makes new products, prices them so high no one can afford to use them and then eventually phases them out when no one buys them.

Is any of you guys collecting measurements from calipers, micrometers and so on in Pi-Web or in other data collection software?

We are using QDA for all of our manual measurements and we are exporting all of our CMM measurements to QDA as well so it is all stored in one place.
Makes it easy to analyze single production lots or parts.
