[Ji...]
Our parts have a flatness call out 0.000" convex .0004" concave. The graph shows this for us but it will show green in the characteristics on the printout when it has a convex condition. Is there a way to make the characteristic show red if it is convex but still in the .0004" range? Our Supplier Engineer wants it like that to keep the explanation to the supplier simple. [Ma...]
You could add a unilateral profile tolerance with the primary, secondary, and tertiary as the same feature. This would show out of tolerance if there is any convex.
[Ji...]
We are not running off a CAD Model. This profile is not being cooperative. I may need step by step instructions if it is even possible without a CAD Model.
[Ma...]
Jimmy, do you can make a new aligment with the plane, make zero in "X,Y,Z?" and then you can see the max ponit of the plane. then evaluate the maxponit is then not higher than your tolerance? I hope that is understandable ❗ ❓
[Da...]
This is crazy but, it might work. recall your plane points into a sphere. If the spheres center point is above the plane its convex ... use a results element and a formula to produce a red if the sphere is negative...and so on. you can mask the sphere and just use and show the results element. just a shot in the dark. 😱
[Ma...]
If you have an inner and outer scan path on the element you can evaluate them as separate planes and compare which is plus or minus material to determine if the surface is convex or concave.
