[Da...]
I have set are CMM to be production system with dedicated fixturing and 5 button start for each program. We have just passed measuring 117,000 parts in 24 months that is a part measured every 9 minutes 365 days a year. And this is not the same part over and over, we have over 480 Programs with over 179 fixtures.Capture.JPG
[Da...]
Wow that is a lot of parts

[Da...]
Anyone that works for the company can load parts. We don't use robots loading. The cost analysis of robotic loading is not cost effective. There are to many different parts (To much program requirements per part, Fixtures and Calypso interface). After all the programming you would still need a person to load parts in the queue. In the end you don't get a great reduction of man hours. [Ma...]
Could this be a possible candidate for autorun pallet system!?!?
[Da...]
We defiantly use Autorun and a Pallet system. We 3D print all holding fixtures for each partIMG_4692[1].JPGIMG_4691[1].JPG

[Ch...]
What 3d printer? I used to make most of my fixtures with our Makerbot but the material kinda sucks. I've switched back to machining delrin.

[Ri...]
Anyone that says that a robot is not able to be justified has clearly never dealt with repetitive-motion claims - or they don't care. Kudos on the usage, I would still suggest a robot.
[Ch...]
Or just operate in countries that don't care about repetitive motion claims.
[He...]
Not to pee on your parade but the table file setting creates 3 files for each run (fet, chr, hdr) so it is more like 39000 parts in that folder. Still impressive though.
[Da...]
Please sign in to view this quote. You are not peeing on my parade. The server removes the (fet and hdr) files every 4 hours so it is still 117,000 parts measured Thanks Though 😃 😃 😃 We also upload all data from (chr) to a SQL server. Then you can downloads data in to Excel or Minitab instantaneously. Dan

Attached is a Picture of a new line that we just fished with over 10 Robots working together. I would say that you haven't had much experience with programming robots by your statements. It is hard enough to get them to work with the same part million times and programming for every possible variable. Now add hundreds of parts and you are talking years to get the programming right with no problems. We did all the number it's just not worth the cost end of story. But thanks for you thoughts DanIMG_4694[1].JPG

[Ri...]
Please sign in to view this quote. My point was that difficulty doesn't outweigh operator safety/longevity. I worked in a manufacturing facility for 13+ years, and the greatest thing they did was move from operators' performing repetitive motions to utilizing robots. In most cases they are significantly faster. Yes - you will have issues, but that's up to you to identify those issues, and improve on the process. Costly, and time consuming, but it saves people getting "trigger-finger", and carpal tunnel earlier than they may normally have.

[Da...]
Also just a heads up the new Chip ID under (ID Chip Settings) works great until you have picked up and drop off the probe over 400,000 times then you start getting errors. You also do see S values start moving based on are call data but that could also be the XXT still an unknown at this time. I would think probe wear but we don't scan much and it almost always on plastic. I keep you up to data on it as things go forward. Machine calibrations are holding for the time being. haven't seen much change there. We are running DuraMax CMM for production. Also all changes made to Chip ID do not apply until you restart the machine.Capture.JPG
[Ri...]
Please sign in to view this quote. The Chip ID is a hit or miss with the XXT. I think it's due to the magnet picking up trace metals in the air, but that's just a theory. They improved the XXT contact points to use gold, so maybe that will help. IDK. [Da...]
Please sign in to view this quote. It worked great for the first 300,000 time is picked up the probe. I wish there was a way to make it just drop the probe and move to a park position with no Probe in the head. If anyone know how I would love to know Zeiss support couldn't give me a way to do that. Thanks Dan

If you have new probes that where not from Qmark more then 4 years ago it works I was the person that got Qmark to attach the wires from the probe plate balls when Zeiss turned this feature on. If your plates are older then 4 years from Qmark they will not work. I don't know when Zeiss plates where working so your guess is as good as mine.
