Itar. How do you handle programs?

We just had an Itar meeting. So now I'm wondering how do I handle programs? Since they need to be secure and, it seems separated from other non Itar programs. how do you pull them in? All my programs are stored on a central server and if I were to do the same with those programs, that would me separate and password protected programs. Would Calypso allow me to enter passwords to get at these programs? Or am I over thinking this?

We also have ITAR work here. All our programs are stored on a central server too. Access to the server is restricted to specific people. Every employee who uses a computer has their own login. Calypso users also have their own separate login and passwords. On top of that, all computers lock after 3 minutes of inactivity.

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is the United States regulation that controls the manufacture, sale, and distribution of defense and space-related articles and services as defined in the United States Munitions List (USML).

Besides rocket launchers, torpedoes, and other military hardware, the list also restricts the plans, diagrams, photos, and other documentation used to build ITAR-controlled military gear. This is referred to by ITAR as “technical data”.

ITAR mandates that access to physical materials or technical data related to defense and military technologies is restricted to US citizens only.

So Casey, you login to Calypso then how do you get at the programs on the server where it seems to me that that is another login.
It seems they need to be segregated from all our other programs.
Can you do this with Calypso?
Login then login again?
Also that three minute timeline, is that something your company established or was it deemed necessary through Itar.

For us we have login/password protected the network drive where the ITAR customers are located. Here is contained prints, certs and whatever else pertains to an order.
Calypso files are on the local computers which work with CMM. These are login/password protected on boot-up and Calypso is login/password protected as well. We have three separate User Profiles created for the operators with full Privileges and AutoRun Rights, plus the master profile all with their own password.
This seems to be OK protection to the powers that be.

I may have not explained it well enough. We have the traditional windows login, then to use calypso, you have the calypso login. All our programs are stored in their respective folders, on a server, that not everyone has access to.

As for the 3 min timeout, I don't remember what drove that, or maybe I never knew. It was implemented a couple of years ago. It's kind of a hassle. I have 2 CMM's and an offline workstation too. That's three terminals I'm constantly unlocking.

After 3 mins is it the computer timeout, or do you get timed out of network.
If it is the computer, is it possible someone activated the put the computer to sleep option in windows?
The network could be an IT issue

After 3 minutes the terminal get a locked screen. You have 3 tries to log in, miss them all and the computer totally locks and can only be unlocked by IT.

Being your IT department has to unlock your systems, it is something that is activated on their end.
You can also do the following click the start orb, then type "gpedit.msc" and open it up, hit User Configuration > Administratitive Template > then sort by state. Disable everything that is enabled. That is how Bruce Kudanian Applications Engineer at Zeiss had us fix the system we bought from them. Hope you can get things resolved

I'm back again with ITAR questions.
So now we are doing the ITAR jobs. It seems no one has an idea how we should be handling things (Yeah management !!). So I'm trying to segregate all programs. But results are another issue. I'm using Excel and would like to know if I can redirect the results I get to another folder. I only see that all results from all programs are stored to one folder. My concern is that we backup to the cloud and nobody seems to know whether that's acceptable or not. I suppose you can't get much from reading an Excel report but I'd rather do more and be told not to worry than do less and be scolded for not taking proper precautions.

As best I understand it, backing up ITAR stuff to the cloud is acceptable, as long as that cloud "exists" in the USA. If the company, and their servers are in the USA, it's fine. I could be totally wrong, but I think that's how it can work.
