[To...]
Hey everyone, Would you interpret Datum C as the edge of the small pocket or the center of dimension X? . .
[Ri...]
It coincides with the width markers, so it should be the center-line.
[SH...]
Please sign in to view this quote. According to GD&T standard is should be the centre, but you should ask this question to your customer. Customer word is the ultimatum....
[To...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Thanks. The ball is already rolling on initiating customer contact. I was just looking for feedback on what people thought. I've never seen a datum called out like this. Typically, the 2 surfaces are similar like on a width of a part, pocket, etc. The drawing has no basic dimensions. They use ±.xxx on everything and it is not clear which surfaces are driving the dimensions They do use position for the hole to A B and C, and a couple of symmetries, but my guess is they aren't up on their GD&T. [Br...]
Please sign in to view this quote. That is how you would establish a centerplane as a datum on a feature of size. This unfortunately is not a feature of size due to the unopposed surfaces. The drawing needs to be corrected.
