[Ca...]
I've (nearly) finished upgrading from 6.6 to 6.8. It was kind of a debacle. The install was straightforward, but I've lost all my probes including the master probes data, all my probe racks and reference sphere's. I don't know where I went wrong. I backed up the system with the Miscellaneous>System meu, and copied the usual Config, workarea, protocol folders. But when I booted up, is was like a new machine.... I have another machine to update, and I'd LOVE to avoid doing this again. Any idea on what I did wrong, or suggestions?

[Ca...]
I'm not specifically sure of what changes or improvements were made, but it generally makes good sense to keep your software up to date. As for paying, we have an SMA, which lets us keep up with the latest versions of Calypso, and also grants software tech support, which is AWESOME. There is no need to copy over those folders manually - the software will do that for you when you first boot it up. As a suggestion, I always suggest to do a machine tab backup via the Calypso software itself - Extras - Settings - Miscellaneous - Maintenance - Backup. That way if the data migration fails, you don't lose your machine tab.
[No...]
Casey, did you install 6.8.parallel to 6.6. or was 6.6 uninstalled before the upgrade? We always install the new release parallel to the old one, so there's not even a remote chance the uninstaller might delete something important by accident. We let the new version import the old settings, then later uninstall the old one. But I also make regular backups just in case. I can't remember that an upgrade ever failed this way. But allow me a question: If you've backed up all settings with the Calypso backup routine, why are they lost? Why can't you just restore the backup? Of course it doesn't save your measurement plans and a few other things, but the main settings, probes etc. should be there.
[Ca...]
Norbert, It was not a parallel install. I did a maintenance backup, and uninstalled 6.6 and installed 6.8. I did the same thing on an offline seat, and had more or less the same problems. After I got the CMM seat up and running, I just copied the config folder to the offline seat, and that fixed (most of) the issues. My only guess as to the cause of all this, is all our computers were, very recently, updated to Windows 10, and maybe ( and that's a HUGE maybe) somehow the folders/addresses/directories or whatever were changed, corrupted, or whatever, and 6.8 couldn't find or see the old config settings correctly. Again, it's only a guess, and my only real idea. I'll be doing a side by side install on our remaining seats. Hopefully that goes better.
[Ke...]
I am planning on updating myself. Would it be wise to make a copy of my probe files? If so where would they be located? Thanks
[To...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Ken, What I do is go to C:\Users\Public\documents. I highlight the Zeiss folder, then do Ctrl-C to copy the entire folder and then do Ctrl-V to paste a copy of the folder. It will say Zeiss - Copy. Then I do my uninstall of the old Calypso. Then, my install of the new Calypso. The copy will always be there in case you need to get your stuff back.
[Ro...]
I'm having the same problem. I did a parallel install, and 2018 is working fine. When I go to 2019, everything loads up EXCEPT my probes, rack and stylus info etc. All I have is a blank rack. How do I fix this? I rather not go and manually set up my rack all over again. Thanks,
[Gr...]
Attached is a document I received from Zeiss regarding upgrades and setting up new computers. You will need to copy the folders as described from 6.6 to 6.8. These are the folders that contain your missing info. Greg K.
