Auto Run

Need some input on Auto Run. The CMM's on the floor use Auto Run for the operators to check their parts. I'm new to this. When starting up Auto Run, populating all the programs takes longer and longer as we add programs. Is this to be expected? On average it takes 5 minutes or so. Some take longer. I will say that it is uploading a lot of programs and the majority have images for set-ups so the operators know how to load the part onto the fixtures.

I use it a bit. My Images used are of the Program view with the CAD Model which can be found in the Program folder.

My Largest Auto Run "Operator Program " has 13 Programs and opens fine ( like 5 seconds) .

Try removing the photo images, if that is what they are, and replacing them with the default model image. See attached for example.

Otherwise, Just limit each Auto Run Program to X amount of Measurement Plans and have as many Auto run programs as you need.

Or, just create 1 Autorun Program per part. This would be the fastest but more time consuming as you already have 1 Auto run Program with many Plans.

Most likely either the measurement plan is HUGE or the pictures are HUGE. Re-size all images to roughly the size of your measurement plan icon. That will help.

Going forward I'll resize any images used or use the model instead of taking a picture. There are several different cells that use auto run. Three of them are for cylinder shaped parts that do not have many features or characteristics(small programs)
One of them is for housings and are larger programs.
One thing that may be part of the issue is that the programs come a network drive and not the C drive or D drive local to the computer.

You bet.
That may even be the main issue. And the reason is not necessarily that it loads huge amounts of data from the network, but simply the checks for file existence.
For years I was fuming about Autorun taking more and more time to load our programs, despite the fact that we have it organized in a lot of subfolders, each of them containing only a few programs. Also, we use almost no images on the icons (only one for calibration programs, but it's the same file every time).
All that time I was thinking that building the desktop from the ASCII description, placing the images, etc. was what took it so long.
But then one day the network connection was down and it came up as fast as lightning. Further tests showed that it wasn't nearly as slow when loading all the stuff from a local drive.
