I have a dowel that I is zeroed and the other dowel is X of 5.500" and Y of -3.000". These are the locator dowel for a fixture.

Although I have not used this option in a long while. I believe you go to the "Special" tab in the Base Alignment window, choose rotate by distance's. Then you enter your XY offsets. You first make one dowel XY zero and then planar rotate the second dowel, then the rotate by distances, make sense?

Unless it's changed I always needed to align to the second diameter and rotate by the calculated angle in PCDmis and OpenDmis

I don't know about PC-DMIS, but in my experience with DMIS, you could offset the feature, and then align to it. Or yes, work out the Trig.

How would you do an offset without the proper alignment to that feature? Unless it's a two axis offset I would be concerned about the accuracy
