2020 is seeing plenty of unprecedented events.
Virus pandemic (best wishes to all) , Chiefs won a Super Bowl, Tom Brady is leaving New England, ect.
Could Zeiss actually put the Text element or something equivalent in Pi-web?
Pardon the sarcasm but, I guess you really don't miss something until it's gone. 😭

Wait, wait, wait..

Do you mean to tell me you don't want to make a completely different template for one job in order to just display some text. The Nerve! 🤣

Kinda like how Curve & Free form are completely separate programs from calypso, and each program is different enough that they need their own training, seperate from Basic and advanced?

Try using comments in Characteristics, i helped someone do that a little bit ago, but i don't know how successful they were, their last comment was rather vague.

Don't take this as a fact, but I might have over heard someone that I consider to be trustworthy, that textelements are making a entry in to the PiWorld. But no ETA...

Very very limited on amount of characters used in comments.
Working in R&D, I put a lot of notes and references in text elements that are very important to evaluating the reports.
Creating a special template for every one is too time consuming.
Eric Moberg, I hope your right!

2020

We won't even believe what has happened in a couple of months... It should be interesting.

What I would like to see, is Calypso allow to build FCF's and use GD&T text, etc. So printouts look more clean.
Also they should add more ASME/ISO background checking/constraints logic. For example Sim Reqt, and best fit based on DRF, etc.

PCD does that, its a really good system.
You assign features a datum letter, then if you want to build a TP or Profile or any GD&T feature you just build a FCF including modifiers and boundaries and all that.
Its very useful in composite FCF where you may have profile .010 to AB and .005 form only.
Then of course the FCF is shown on the report.
What i really like is that the TP icon on the report is live, like a histogram itll show you with a cross hair and a dot how far and in what direction you are off.

I have to agree with you Robert.... The GDT in Dmis is pretty cool. I exspecially like how it handles composite profile and true pos....
I work in R&D and most of the engineers i work with like the little histogram targets in the true pos template. I think Calypso is pretty close but not quite there yet.... pros and cons with each i guess. I like and use both

I'm part of the group that dislikes that. I get it for showing FCFs, but to me it "dumbs" down the software. I know that other software touts these things, but I like Calypso the way that it is.

Just my opinion though.
