[Ky...]
One of our customers has set out how they want their parts checked on a CMM. I understand why, so everyone checks the parts the same way. Now one of many questions to come in the future. Drilled hole: Scanned circle should include 450 degree of rotation. Measurement output must be from full 360 degree not including the first 45 degree or the last 45 degree. Question is how do I drop the first 45 degree and the last 45 degree. I know Calypso drops so many points at first. But I want to make sure I am doing this like the customer wants. Please leave the customers name out of this if you know whom I am referring to. I am not complaining about having to do this, just what to make sure our company is measuring the part like they are requesting.
[De...]
In your measurement strategy, for each circle path, make your start angle be 315 (360-45) and make your range be 450 (360+45), now choose the Special Settings tab and check the evaluation range button. In the Between Angles section put in 0.0 for start and 360.0 for end which should give a total angle of 360. That will need to be done on all circle paths in a cylinder, etc.
[Cl...]
They sound like micro-managers to me. If they have enough confidence to use your company to make their parts, they should leave the measurement strategy to the experts, you!
[Me...]
This micromanagement case from your customer looks like the result of a good Gage R&R.
[Ky...]
Thanks Derek. That was just what I needed. But I ended up having to 359.999 in. if I put in 360 for the end, Calypso changed it to Zero. I even tried putting 370 and it changed 10. So I put in 359.999 ad it .001 less the 360 Thanks Kyle
[De...]
Good to know, though I knew it was there and its function I have never actually had to use it myself.
[Cl...]
Please sign in to view this quote. That's great that worked out for you. I've had the opposite happen, that's why I posted the criticism. We had one of our largest customers demand we use their program, which was complete crap.
[Me...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I 100% meant this as satire. On a serious note though, I'd be having a conversation with my upper management about never taking a PO for a company that wants to dictate terms of Quality Inspection in regard to CMM Programming. I would also influence them to jack up the price of those particular products if they take the PO as well.
[Da...]
I'm running a customer program too ! Our guys are so used to my programs, that I had to explain what the printout meant. Totally disagree with their filter and outlier settings, but, I was told to use it as is. 😕 I have asked in the past to please allow me to meet with their programmer to iron out some finer points on our techniques. That has been met with a great gnashing of teeth and a strong NO from our guys...I don't get it.
