So my Corporate overseers sent an email out to everybody saying that international travel is currently off the table unless its an issue that can be put off (read, money is at stake) and even domestic travel needs to be approved by a special council.
Additionally they said anyone who could do their jobs from home would be allowed to.
So i emailed my boss and said as long as i can remote into my PC from home, i would gladly work from home, i have at least 30 days worth of work in front of me and would be eager to contribute from home........

But alas, the email was directed more toward the upper level management & executive level people, and that my continued presence would be appreciated and expected. Dang!
How's your guys's work affected by THE THING going around?

I asked. There's only two programmers here. I offered to 'self-quarantine'.
I only live 15 minutes away, I can come in for prove-outs ,etc...

Stay safe and healthy everyone! 🙂

I hope not, my kids are monsters and I'd never get anything done. Honestly though, this is another reason I like the small town life. Let everyone in the filthy cities get sick as long as it stays out of my corn fields.

It's hitting our Asian and Italian supply chains more than anything else. At home too, I just found out that the town is sold out of toilet paper and so is amazon. Looks like things are going to get interesting tonight.

In 20 years this may be remembered as the pandemic that caused a worldwide toilet paper crisis. 😱

We've created a short-term, effective through April, policy to where if you've got a fever and think you might have the virus to be able to stay home with a maximum 3-days paid and must have a doctors note verifying you tested negative for it to return. Although if you do have, you're going to most likely miss a lot more than 3-days that are not paid.
Also, have reduced or eliminated the plans of those who travel abroad.

However, for the 1st time ever, I've got a perfect March Madness bracket. 🙄

Just be glad you dont live in the shit country that Sweden has become over the last 20 years.

Our goverment virologist (socialist), doesnt like the idèa of people working from home if they can. Because its discrimination to those who cant. There is no money to give to the hospitals because its already spent on genus theory and feminist snow plowing, (what ever that is?). We have tax pressure above 70%, but only 526 intensive care spots. And a population of about 9000000, I could go on all day, but you would not belive me...

Local to where I live there are just a handful of infected, as of now. Thank god Im still young.

Most of our work is for the hydraulics industry...we are very slow right now. China's not buying any farm equipment, and since we have a great tariff war going on, we aren't selling to the U.S. either . so with the few people we have left the Higher ups decided we should clean everything every day. no real long term plans....I LOVE THAT !

I told my wife to go get paper, and she came home with paper.
I don't know if she had to stab somebody, i didn't ask, i just put the paper into the closet and slowly closed the door.

A message from Denmark which boarders will be shut down today at 12 am.

We are two people in our quality department - which I am in charge of.
I am considering having one of us at home. This way we mitigate the risks if we will have an outbreak at our site.
For now we have plenty of work in our production, but if we suddenly can't have raw materials, then who kniws what will happen.

A lot of work can be done from home, but final inspection seem a little difficult.

Here, we are asked to stay home if we have any possible symptoms. If we come to work with a fever, there will be disciplinary action. If we do have a fever, we are required to stay home for 14 days. Anyone that does not have the vacation or personal leave to cover, the company will continue to pay our wages, and then the vacation/personal leave will continue to be taken until the balance is even. Pretty fair i think. Glad they are working with us.

A friend of mine has one of these. It was for "medical reasons" (ouch) but now hes making sure to laugh at the rest of those scrambling for butt tape.
