[Je...]
So Im stumped on why this keeps happening no matter what I try. I have the clearance cube set up nicely around the part, and I have checked all my settings, why when a measurement gets taken the probe comes way out past where I have my clearance cube set up to go to another feature??? How do I fix this??
[Mi...]
Have you made any changes to the base alignment since the clearance cube was defined? If the part gets moves relative to the base alignment, it does not move the clearance cube with it.
[SH...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Can't understand what you are talking about, I think you might use wrong clearance plane. First check your normal vector direction of the feature, base alignment clearance plane clear distance retract distance are the navigation tools.. I think you have some problem in navigation I don't know what mistake you have made...any screen shot please...
[Je...]
Well I originally programmed the part without cad, then I finally got the cad model and inserted it into the program. I redid the clearance cube. Unpdated all the measurements. I am having this happen with a fresh program that has a cad model in it that im programming off of. So I just don't understand why it still comes all the way out the same distance between each feature.
[Ow...]
Could be a lot of things but, a few questions might help identify the problem. What type of head are you using, active/passive, articulating? Are you using vast-navigator? Not knowing , you might try going into the features measurement plan editor and under travel, turn "arc Motion mode" off.

[Je...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I have a Vast XXT head. I turned the Arc of motion off and it is still doing the same thing.
[Jo...]
Have you selected Clearance Plane in measurement tab and viewed the cube ?
[Za...]
What is your retract distance set at?
[Gr...]
One thing you might want to check is in the clearance data under strategy in the feature. Check your clearance distance. By default it is turned on and will have 0.3937 in there. Calypso will retract to the set up clearance plane and move your stylus and move it this additional amount. Uncheck this and enter 0. Calypso will now retract to the defined clearance plane only. Greg K
[No...]
The clearance distance is not only determined by the probe geometry, but also by the head size. I can only speak for a VAST XT: When it travels to a clearance plane in X/Y direction, it goes as far as is necessary to move the probe AND the head outside the clearance cube. So if the probe is slim, maybe just one stylus in -Z, it looks as if it's going way too far.
[Me...]
Are you using a star probe? Have you blocked edges? Just thinking aloud.
