Measurement Plan from space axis Z to Y

I need your help!

I created a measurement plan of a steel plate in space axis +z .
Now we have add other holes in the back side of the plate ( space axis -z).
To measure them, i would like to put the item in vertical on CMM so i can take the bores in space axis +y on one side and -y on the back side.
Can i do that without delete the measurament plan? This program took a long time.

Tanks for your assistance.

Regardless of whether I repeat myself for the 1000th time here on the forum (I guess I should make a tutorial, if I only had the time), the answer is: YES! 😃

Basically, Calypso can measure a part in every physical orientation as long as the base alignment is fully defined in all degrees of freedom. This is true for the software side. Restrictions apply to the hardware side (CMM type and styli): Of course you can only measure with styli which can properly reach the features.
So what you have to do is to edit all the styli in the measurement plan according to the new part orientation. Additionally, you may have to edit some clearance planes. Remember, clearance planes refer to the base alignment, so your former +Y will still be +Y for Calypso, but will physically on the CMM become -Z. So if any features have clearance plane +Y, you'll probably have to edit them to something else and maybe even insert an approach path in the strategy.

Apart from these minor changes, you can use the measurement plan you already have. The most important thing is that you manually measure your base alignment exactly in the same way as before, only tilted. So if you probed a plane in machine axis +Z for spatial before, you now probe it in machine axis +Y, as this is your base alignment +Z now. I hope you understand what I mean 🤠

(I SHOULD definitely make a tutorial...)

The time is always critical.

You should, we all should, well you should 😃

Really, joke aside. Some stuff repeats itself and I was thinking it would be nice to have something dedicated to a specific problem.
Maybe something marked like this? 408_1e6eea2b650d2e1b6255821d6ea8b01d.png
In theory when tutorials stack up, Carl will open new forum section.
edit: And like Andreas would like to point out, this thread should be in "parent" Calypso section. Because of english language used.

I really like the idea of a tutorials section. Some topics repeat over and over again, and the search function is not always helpful, especially when it ignores a lot of words.

Fully agreed. Maybe this section should be better named "Calypso GER". Some people seem to miss the meaning of "DE" 😕
