[Wa...]
Good day, We are curious as to whether or not anyone has had issues renaming features and characteristics by the values. For example: if we had a 2.5" cylinder Calypso defaults it as "cylinder1". If we were to rename it as "2.5 Cylinder" (to include the symbols like the decimal place), has anyone had any issues? We are trying to avoid the confusion as to locating features and characteristics when the numbering can get quite high (example: cylinder53). [To...]
Attached are 2 methods I use. One shows without balloon numbers and one with. It's easy to use copy and paste between features and characteristics.
[Wa...]
Ok thank you Tom so if you had a 30.5mm hole Feature name: Cylinder_30.5mm Dia_Front Characteristic Name: 30.5mm Dia_Front worried about the decimal point
[Ro...]
I use a number sign (I refuse to call it a hashtag) in my naming strategy without any issues. My sister plant uses underscores and dashes and decimals without any issues. I think you should be finehfghfghd.JPGjhkghfghfgd.JPG

[To...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Decimal point is ok as long as it does not end with one. Calypso will bark at you whenever you use an invalid character.
[Ri...]
I have been using the following method (With minor revisions thru the years) for about 16 years now. IMO, it makes a clean and readable report particularity when all in the company whom create CMM programs follows the same language. (Its from a 12 page document of CMM standards I wrote many years back). Section 11: Standard nomenclature for GD&T string entry in Calypso Characteristics (ProLink) 1. Character string Length Notes a. 30 max character limit for those outlined. All others are 32 max character limit. b. When using Best Fit true position. Calypso adds three or more characters to the string name, you must take care to prevent exceeding a 28 character maximum character limit. As for features, Generally Calypso names them except for Datums: Plane_A (A plane for Datum A) ...If multiple features create a datum: Plane_A1, Plane_A2, etc; Creates Plane_A Circle_B (A circle for Datum B) etc...etc... To know association of characteristics to features and vice versa, Calypso does a fine job of association. Right click (Mouse) a characteristic and select "References of selected features" and all associations will appear in a dialog box. Right click (Mouse) a feature and select "Check use of selected features" and all associations appear in a dialog box. As a side note, if anyone wants to take time to review my "workmanship standards" and perhaps provide feedback, let me know via this forums message board, I will gladly provide a MS Word document.Naming Sample_-_20_3_PiWeb.pdf
