From 5.4 to 6.8

We are getting ready to upgrade our Duramax from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and Calypso 5.4 to Calypso 6.8. We have received the new Z workstation and are just waiting for the right day. All our programs are on a network drive so I should have to worry about that. I am going to get tech support on the phone to guide me through it but I would like to ask you all "what files I should save a copy of for back up"? I am pretty sure it is the "config" folder that I need. Is that right? Is that all?

ooh thats a big jump.
I'm not sure if 5.4 had the Save & Recover function, take a look.
It'll create a file that saves all your tips and most of your machine settings, it'll also save your header files which used to be the biggest bummer in updating, having to re save all your GRA files in the new location.
That's located in your Extras>Settings>Miscellaneous, then click on the maintenance tab and hit save.
have a network folder ready for your backups, then do it every month or 2 just as a precaution.

But...... If its not available then you need to
1) export all your stylus systems to a network drive so you can pick them up if they don't move over.
2) write down the location of your Protoform folder, that's where all your VPHEAD and other header files are stored. you can find this location by going to "Resources>Design Custom Printout>Printout head" and click on open, it should open to the current location. Write that file path down and when you get your new version rename the current protoform something like "protoform old" or "protoform1", then copy and paste the old protoform folder into its place. Now all your custom headers should be the same.
3) go thru every sub menu under Extras>Settings and make notes as to what values you have inserted in to each field, or what checkboxes are checked, be very thorough, screen shots are your friend.

all need to be reviewed.

As long as you are going from a 64-bit system to another 64-bit system - you should be able to copy the config folder from the source, and paste it to the new. The same for the protocol folder.

In the older versions, they were located in the Program Files\Zeiss\Calypso\... folder, but the new data structure uses the C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Zeiss\Calypso\...

I have made a copy of the following folders: config, excel_report, protform, and the whole work area folder. I don't think I need the results folder. I am aware of the old locations vs. the new.
I exported all my probes but I can not export the master probe?

Speaking of, is it possible to run 5.4 on Windows 10? We're pushing to upgrade all our Windows installs at the moment, but still stuck with a very old version of Calypso...

You cannot export the MasterProbe as it is built as soon as the machine is initialized for the first time.

If you are able to bring in the config folder with no issues your entire machine tab/users will be brought in.

If you aren't able to bring in the config folder with no issues you will have to build your machine tab from scratch. I then suggest to take snapshots of all of your machine tab settings.
