[Za...]
I need help with the profile callout for the chamfer. It's not being called back to anything. What is the best way to get an accurate result using Calypso? Thanks in advance for any help!Profile of Chamfer-.png
[Cl...]
I would either measure a cone with two circle paths, or maybe get a little fancy and create two 2d curves in the cone and recall those points into a free form surface. Do you have curve? Both the cone and the FFS can then be pulled into the surface profile characteristic for evaluation. With no datum reference they want only form. [Ch...]
Clark is definitely correct, however I don't think you can choose "no datum reference frame" for a cone only for FFS Free Form Surface. Think of it as cylindrical for a cylinder, but for a cone instead. (conicity). Good luck, and happy measuring!

[Jo...]
If you don't have Freeform or a model, would Form give you similar results ?
[Za...]
I don't have Curve
[Ro...]
I agree with Clarke, cone. Or if you have FF you can take a circular section(s) that go thru the chamfer and create some free form scans out of that.
[Za...]
I had issues with the profile of a plane and contacted one of the Application Engineers at Zeiss. He suggested that since the profile didn't have a datum reference to put the plane itself 3x for the datums. This worked for the plane very well but have not had any success with the profile of the chamfer.profile of a plane.png
[Za...]
He said if it's a freeform feature you can just select "No Datum Reference" from the drop down. Unfortunately we do not have freeform.
[Cl...]
A possible alternative would be to use the "Form" characteristic.
[Cl...]
You could also cheat a little. Scan maybe 12 - 16 equally spaced lines up the cones 45 deg angle and report line profile for each?
[Jo...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Wasn't there discussion about building alignment based on the feature ? That way you could use the secondary alignment option.
[Al...]
Wouldn't the 45 degree angle need to be BASIC and not have a +/-1 degree tolerance for a Profile?
[Jo...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I think it should be. It's useless anyways. The profile of .001" would limit it to about ± .3 ° with perfect roundness. If my math is correct..

[Gr...]
I do not know when you purchased the license for your CMM, but when we upgraded our Planner with Curves-Free Form Surface it came as a package and I believe cost $6900.00 US. Is it possible the license is not Activated? Check this under Extras>Settings>Miscellaneous>Licenses. Here is were you can check to see if it is activated. Note you must me logged in as Master to make changes. Greg

[Is...]
Try with points cloud, the limitation is that probably you don't have the profile characteristic available but you could report the max / min deviation.
