Moving sortware to a new computer

We are looking to get new computers. Since win 10 is the new norm. How have you dealt with the transition?
Is this basically a new install or have you been able to migrate files. I understand the dongle thing... moving it over. But have you found any short cuts to make it go smoothly.

Go to Extras - Settings - Miscellaneous - Maintenance - Backup.

That will backup your machine tab.

The other thing is to go to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO 6.8; and to create backups of the config, protocol, and workarea folders.

The backup of the machine tab will take care of the need to copy over the config folder, but it's nice to keep a copy just in case. The protocol houses your reports/header variable. The workarea houses all of your Base Alignments, PiWeb Databases, Measurement Plans.

Other than your license file, that is all you really need.

The only issues migrating to Windows 10 is if your computer is running 32-bit versions of Windows. I had to essentially rebuild the machine tabs from scratch. The only thing I could do to save the stylus systems was to manually export/import each individual one.

Thanks to all of you. I will do all the above.......in triplicate.
Greg I've down loaded the pdf. Thank you.
I am running 64 bit.
These will be new comps since we are using Win 7 and have to move to 10.
I've talked to our web guru and he's not keen on just upgrading these computers to 10.
Thinks it will "dog them down". One of them I agree the others... well the company is willing to spring for the expense so who am I to argue.

A last hint:
If you're unsure what's included in Calypso's 'backup.set' file, rename it to 'backup.zip' and examine.
The folder structure and naming is a bit different, but you'll find your way around.
