Naming Characteristics Question

In some cases, characteristic names will have the axis added to them when reported. For example, my name 'Item#1' might be reported as 'Item#1_X'.

Is there any way to remove the '_X' ?

Hi Matt,

I'm unaware of how you would do that. A workaround could be to drop in a Result Element that recalls the values of that particular Characteristic. You could then Mark & Mask the previous, so that it doesn't show up on the report.

Just trying to understand the big picture.

Why do you want to remove the "X"? Is the reason because it's the wrong letter, i.e. you want it to say "Y"?

I assume these are due to have "Additional Printout" active.

Yes, you're right. I forgot about those items. But, those can also be revised through a rotation in a secondary alignment, which is where I was heading with my original post.

We get the same thing from time to time. In our characteristics we Identify with the balloon# followed by the nominal dimension and any specified tolerances. ie. 25_1.123±.002 , we don't specify an axis. I hate it when it prints out as 25_1.123±.002_X because the dimension might be in the Y direction on the print... then the customer starts asking "but why does it say X when it's in the Y 😭 😭 😭 ". And then I have to explain to them that the axis doesn't matter because the part is turned on the Contura and then the ask "but why does it say X when it's in the Y 😭 😭 😭 ". Very annoying.
