[Ja...]
I wasn't sure where to put this, so I figured here would be an ok spot. Our company is trying to get me to move to 3rd party calibrators for all of our CMMs. We have Zeiss and Nikon. Currently, Zeiss and LK are the companies we use for our calibrations. I would like to keep it this way. I am working up a list of reasons to present to management as to why this is a bad idea and to NOT do this. I am wondering what kind of horror stories you guys might have for points I can add to my list of why this is not a good idea. I am not looking for names of calibrators, just things that happened that have brought you back to Zeiss for your CMM Calibration.
[Er...]
I don't have any stores to share, but a argument you can use is that when ever you encounter a issue and reach out to the oem supplier, they could just point out that they haven calibrated the machine and thats the issue. Same goes with "pirate" styli. They just tell you to put on oem stuff, since thats the issue. Even if its obvious thats not the cause of your issue. In the long run, (atleast for us) its a no brainer to use oem. We cant risk having issues that our suppliers feel non responsible for.
[Ow...]
One thing I believe you won't get using a Non-OEM calibration company is CAA corrections/adjustments made to the software that help refine/improve it's accuracy.
