[Co...] Posted January 8, 2020 Share Posted January 8, 2020 I have a part that has a small slot on the side facing X+ Y- and I cannot get the probe to approach the part from that angle. It only comes from either X+ or from Y-. Is there a way I can have it come in at a 45° angle(Vector) to help with probing without crashing? [To...] Posted January 9, 2020 Share Posted January 9, 2020 Please sign in to view this quote. Several ways to go about this. To fix your current program, open the point, click the evaluation button. Change Space Point Mode from Touch Point to Plane Point. Close that window. In the main point window, enter the cosine of 45 in both the I and J. Simple method is to put 1 and 1 (cosine is actually .7071) but putting equal values in the fields, produces the same results. The value could + or - depending where you are on the part. Just look at the yellow arrow and confirm it is perpendicular to the surface. If you start from scratch, go to Resources > Utilities and create a secondary alignment. Open the alignment. Leave the alignment features blank. Click the Special button at upper right.Click Rotate by an Angle. Enter 45 degrees and click OK. Next go to CAD > Pre-assignment for new features. Select the alignment created previously. LEAVE THIS WINDOW OPEN. Drag it around or minimize it if it is in the way. Start taking the points. They will snap to the closest primary axis, which happens to be rotated 45 degrees. When you're done, you can close the Pre-Assignment window. As long as you leave the secondary alignment assigned to these points, you won't need to change the I & J values or change them to Plane Points. The vectors will remain skewed to the original closest axis (I and J values will be at 0.7071). You'll then need to edit to 1 and 0, according the desired direction.
