[Da...]
From what I've read in past posts, there used to be an annual user's conference. I'm curious, has there been any efforts to start this up again? Did Zeiss organize it or was it done by other individuals?
[Ow...]
I went to the last one hosted by Zeiss in 2011. It was held in Scottsdale Arizona. Had a great time listening to all the presentations and discussing work with others in the same field from all types of applications. They broke up the national conference and decided to do them on a smaller level in each market area. I don't hear of many, or any recently in my smaller non-industrialized area. Some of Zeiss's competitors (which are bigger than Zeiss) host very large 2 to 3 day conferences every year with training sessions presented in collaboration with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and ASME and a lot training sessions that focus on all aspects of what's new or coming in the metrology industry. [Ia...]
I was lucky enough to go to something similar to that. It's surreal to be conversing with people audibly about metrology.
[Ja...]
As far as I know Zeiss doesn't have plans to resurrect the national conference. I'm fortunate I work near the Zeiss manufacturing facility in Minnesota and our local distributor holds a user conference there every year in the fall. I go every year, and every year I learn something new, along with what's new in the latest version of Calypso. I look forward to it. I sometimes post on the forum when it's going to be, but I didn't this year. I'll make sure I do it next fall.
