[To...]
Sorry that I don't have a drawing but I'm looking for ideas on how to set up a position characteristic on the 4 tabs. Datum A is the ID and Datum B is the face opposite the tabs. The position calls out the 4 tabs with MMC to A (MMB) and B
[Ro...]
points? Then just add MMC with a formula? Maybe you need to fixture the part on its side so you can get to both sides for the B datum. However, in times like this you can select your points in order, and set your Sub Clearance Planes together so order so you don't have to go to the clearance plane between points. something i like to do whenever possible. Its not so much a time saver, i just like to watch it go.fgdjkfgdjhk.JPG
[Br...]
I personally like to create symmetry planes out of all the planes(not to be confused with the symmetry constructed feature). Measure plane features on each one, then recall points into a symmetry plane feature. This way you can use Outer Tangential for the size, and the Position characteristic will allow for MMC. If you only want to measure Lines you can still do this. You just have to constrain the vectors. If you are Ok with single Points, you can just use the symmetry point feature and have the option for MMC still. Edit: To utilize the MMB for Datum A, you will need to use the best fit bore pattern option in your position characteristic. Then set the best fit to the view tolerance (with MMC/LMC of the references) .
[Ow...]
I don't have a reply to the question. I just want to say Hi to Tom. 🤣
[An...]
Only regarding intersection points in the middle plane. The size of the feature is not the "caliper size". It's the size of two tangential and parallel planes, related to the Best-Fit-Alignment.Contribution_10_12_2019_b.pdf

Maybe next time, the refs will have Zeiss lens in their glasses and both teams will benefit from good calls. Lol
