graphics card and ram

Hey All,
looking to request a new computer for Calypso and Solidworks 2019.
my current computer has 32gb ram and an NVIDIA Quadro P620.
I have been having issues with calypso not being able to extract features properly, it will extract a feature on the opposite side of the part or through the part... Solidworks crashes with barely complex models.

Just curious what other users have equipped on their planner seats.

TIA

I would put attention in the processor too.., when you have the opportunity to test many different computers you will notice that Calypso performs very funny...

I'd normally say the RAM, but 32GB should be plenty. I've used Calypso with 16GB and had no problem.

Is there a slow down period at all, where the computer is "thinking" for awhile, or does it just shut down?

As far as extracting features incorrectly, that normally seems to be a problem with the CAD model itself- in my limited experience.

Six months ago we ordered the following computer directly from Zeiss
Workstation Z440 G3 HP
HP Z440 700W 90 Percent Efficient
ZEISS order no.: 614303-9089-002
Operating system Windows 10 Pro 64 EUROA4
Processor Intel Xeon E5-1620v4 3.5 10M 2400 4C CPU
Hard drive HP Z Turbo Drive G2 256GB PCIe 1st SSD
2TB 7200 RPM SATA 1st HDD
RAM 32GB DDR4-2400 (4x8GB) RegRAM
Graphics card NVIDIA Quadro K2200 4GB 1st GFX
Mouse HP USB 1000dpi Laser Mouse
Drive 9.5mm Slim SuperMulti DVDRW 1st ODD
Interfaces Intel Ethernet I210-T1 PCIe NIC
China Regulatory CCC Compliance Mark
HP 3/3/3 Warranty EURO.
The only thing we had to do was change the NVIDIA 3d setting to Autodesk Motion Builder-compatible, set up the dual monitors and plug in our dongle.
This is connected to a Contura G2 and even with Calypso running, we can run Solidworks and/or Inventor and not choke out the computer.
It was under $3000.00 with our complete care package.

  • 2 weeks later...
I'm thinking that the Calypso issue with extracting features from the wrong side of the part had to be a bug in 2018. Mine has been doing that too and it didn't in 2017. And I have seen that issue mention in the forums a few time also.
