Curve & FF

It still bothers me that we need Curve for pretty much any line profile, and Free Form for any surface profile that encompasses more than 1 cad surface.
It also bothers me that these "sub Programs" are so different from each other that they require 2 separate training classes.
6 grand & 2 training courses can be a difficult sales pitch for many people, especially when the sting of 280k often hasn't worn off when realizing "i cant check this profile".
The competitors program treats scans like any other 3d feature.

Sorry ill go back into my hole again........

Agree.

Training for both is 18-1,900.00. Depending on where you have to travel from.
Never used either one so I am looking forward to seeing how much they help me/us

The way we got around not having freeform was to take a million profile points, recall the points into a min and a max, and then a result element to make a formula to output the actual profile. So long and tedious, cannot wait to have all the bells and whistles in a few weeks.

If I remember correctly, the only feature you can use to evaluate a line profile is a curve. Literally the only option.

My question might be a blunder, what surface is actually called free from surface and how it differ from other surface specifically in curve tracing....

Curve is a straight line (or cylindrical line) made by sectioning the cad model, Free form can ziz zag its way around any surface(s).

Calypso pretty much forces you to use Curve for line profiles on complex surfaces, and since there is no other way to "Bundle" cylinders and lines and planes together you need Free Form surface to do surface profiles if your profile encompases more than 1 unique surface segment on a cad model.
