Since the piece I was measuring was small, I positioned it at 7.5º and made 48 positions. The educator from Zeiss said that the allowed positioning could be max 24. [Ch...] Posted November 25, 2019 Share Posted November 25, 2019 Unal, Hi, I am unable to open the attachment. Are you referring to how many points on the reference sphere (manual calibration)? I've successfully got a 0.5mm to scan the reference sphere with Dyn Tensor (Prismo Navigator) many times. However, be careful, I've had them break as well during calibration on their own. I manually calibrated the probe every 7.5º (in 48 positions) to avoid contact with the probe shaft. In Gear Pro, how many positions can I calibrate a probe? [Ch...] Posted November 25, 2019 Share Posted November 25, 2019 Ah, I see, you obviously must not have Rotary table. This must rotate (XTR?). Yes for this small ball and shaft size, you would need lots or angles to avoid shanking. I'm not aware of any limits in Gear Pro, perhaps in Calypso. You might want to find Roman Gross, he will likely know. Depending on the face width, another option I've used in the past is : your pins size is 2.0mm, you could use a long 1.5mm for index and lead, and use a 1mm for profile are the edge of the gear (approx 2.5mm from edge). Gear Pro will auto change stylus as long as option is checked. Technically, your spec probably says profile applies at mid face width, etc. however, this being a spline, if you checked profile on both ends, I'd think you would be good in the center as well.
