Probe head moves automatically

While I meauring a feature, obviously I have to take points. If I take a point in an unorthodox way, probe head moves automatically to particular point and stops there, take a point in air. This is a machine problem or my mistake??

Most of the CMM's I work with have the vast-gold scanning head and I'm not sure I can explain why it does it but, yes, it happens and always has.
It usually happens when taking a radial point to quickly and not perpendicular to the vector direction.

This happens if you start moving the joystick to the next position without taking all of the load off of the stylus from the previous hit. In other words, make sure to pull the probe completely away from the surface before moving to the next position.
